We popped into Nindigully pub for lunch and liked the setting so much we stayed for an overnight in the car park. Great big sprawling pub with an inside and outside bar.
There had been a big night before with a group of campers out the front hitting it off with the locals and the beer and bundy flowed until the early hours. The pub has a room for locals to sleep in if they have too much to drink FOC. It had been full !The inside bar has a collection of old akubra hats from locals over the years on the walls. On the ceiling there are 5 dollar bills pinned on that go to the Flying Doctors. You get a 5 dollar bill wrapped around a drawing pin and a 50 cent piece. Throw it at the ceiling bill and pin stays ,coin drops !
Went for a bit of a fish (no luck there ) but i did stumble across some old car ruins on a dried out mud flat about a kilometre from the camp. Whilst they will spend time under water in flood conditions the rest of their time it will be in arid heat which prevents the deep rusting.
Next day a very short trip to St George, nice campsite (lush grass to walk on from the artesian bore water). Great walk along the river then back through the town.
In the spirit of the GAB we watered ourselves at the Riversand Winery – they could believe we had walked the 45 minutes in the heat of the sun – but they don’t know Kate’s liking for Vino !
