Friday 24/5 .
Arrived at Shoalhaven heads two timber caravan park in glorious sunshine . Bish bash bosh and the van was set up . Good walk round town located the dog friendly beach and the local pub . Beers and step targets achieved . Following day on advice from neighbours we went to 7 mile beach . It’s not accessible for dogs. It like all rules and laws in Australia they are more in the way of guidance . Great expanse of beach and Keeva ran wild .
Next day we ventured south to Callalala beach . On the way we stopped into a pub that was taking part in a free vb day . One schooner per person and you had to sign for it . After three changes of clothes and two different accents i felt i had tried hard enough . Callalala beach had beautiful squeaky sand and again the mutt ran herself to a standstill . Back home for lamb cutlets with habernero spice .
The weather changed and although still sunny it dropped to 16 degrees and we had 40km/hr gusting winds . The poor old camping table tried to do a magic carpet and escape but it only achieved a Douglas Bader and broke two legs .
We are beginning to feel like a superstars entourage as everyone is besotted with Keeva and we get stopped in the street for questions , praise and selfies !
From shoal haven we ventured up the road to Berry for walk round the town and stumbled into a Celtic festival which was more pipe bands , country dancing and poetry than the old firm game , green and white bhoys , celtic park and laments about Jock Stein. It was a great event with a street parade bagpipes to the fore then down to the show ground where there were scottish treats a plenty. Not past 10 o’clock and the tally was a square sausage sandwich and a suet crust lamb pie on the board washed down with Tennents lager.
Next on to Toncurry Sporties a rugby league and bowling based sports club. Right next to a nice long dog friendly beached within walking distance of Forster main beach too for a wee latte in the mornings. Watched the rebels beaten by the waratahs in the club followed by a wild night of country old rock and roll and some of the best dad dancing the world has ever seen . Great place for an overnighter or two
Finally found out what the cage at the back of the caravan is for !
Nothing like a wee bit of home😊
Very true !
