In the last few days of our trip we did our best to balance avoiding the rain which was sweeping down from the Northwest.
We spent a couple of days in on the edge of a Billabong in Dimboola (the title of my next hit song) . Lazy few days spent playing games reading , sunning ourselves and i also managed to catch a few little Redfin Perch .
Then onto Swan Hill on the mighty Murray River. We explored the town and I tried to retrieve a lure from this monster Murray Cod .
The grain silos of the region have been spruced up by commissioned artists and they are spectacular
Whislt on the riverbend on the Murray we were visited by a 5 foot long Goanna on two occasions.
First was when i went looking for firewood , the second when kate was sat with her feet up and it passed her in the narrow space between the van and the river . Needless to say there was a scream and a very frightened ….Goanna .
The weather was pretty sultry with 35 degrees , cloud cover and occasional drizzle . With loads of available firewood and the ok to have a fire we sat out , cooked over the fire and listened to our feathered neighbours.
From there is was off to Bendigo . Few hours walking round the town centre then off to a pub to watch our Melbourne Rebels beat the Queensland Reds – we have missed our Friday night footy so much !
Its amazing what you can uncover in opshop book piles !
What’s an op shop?😏
